Title: Favourite music track
Post by: Astragoth on February 28, 2011, 01:58:30 PM
I love the music in Melolune, its very relaxing and soothing to listen to, even the "action" music. I can't pick a fav track cause I like them all, but some of them would be the Victory music when you win a battle, the battle music itself (Ultimate Battle), when you're walking through the Leeble village, and most cool, is the music when you're going through the swamp.
I seriously cannot get it out of my head that the swamp music in Melolune and the Rigor Mormist "fog" music in PVZ are VERY similar. It always reminds me of one when I'm listening to the other lol
So, what's your favourite bit of music?

haven't played very far into it yet, I just met Andy. But so far I love what she did with the first area where the music track is different with each piece of fragment placed on the lamp-pedestal things. I noticed what Astragoth mentioned in regard to the swamp too. (A zombie gardener. very ironic! ;D)
Also, during the first boss battle to save Aero, something seemed very familiar about that song too. I just can't quite remember what.....  ;)

OMG thank you Packnight, completely forgot about that one - its called "Upperland Forest". LOVE that track - and as you said when you place each fragment the music gets better bit by bit :)

Er, all of it? xD

Yeah, I'm not good at picking favourites. I don't often like picking favourites, as it alienates everything else.

My favorite is Carya de Mio.  So beautiful!

Does anyone know what language she is singing in the Carya De Mio and Melolune tracks?  Sounds like Spanish maybe?

I do believe it is in Spanish. I like that one, but the main Melolune theme is one of my favorites (the lyrics also seem to be in Spanish, so I wouldn't doubt if Laura either knows some Spanish or someone who does), but my favorite of them all is probably The Great World.

Carya de Mio, as well as the Melolune opening theme, are both sung in a made-up language that is supposed to be the language of the ancient Ciroans in the game.  I always thought it sounded like Spanish though because it's meant to be a mix of Latin and some other languages (with a tiny bit of Japanese influence).

And nice to meet you tigerhearted and Cheeseyx!  Welcome to the forums :)

Ah, so that's why I can't ever understand them. And thanks for the welcome.

Speaking of songs in made up languages, did you know that in most movie trailers with the opera singing to make it sound epic, what they are singing is utter nonsense? Some trailers have actual Latin, but most are just babble.

I like your initiative. Adds a great atmosphere to the game  :)

And welcome Cheeseyx!  ;D

I'm really excited to try the Demo later today (i'm at work ><)

One of my favourite snes games was Tales of Phantasia, the reason being in the main menu you could open a music player and play all the tracks from the songs. I looooved the tracks in that game, it even had 1 Lyrical song which just blew me away that an SNES game could have a song with lyrics in it. (man I feel old now)
Since then, I've always wondered why games haven't had a bigger emphasis on the music. Leave it to Shigi to get it right!  :D

My favourite soundtracks of Melolune are:

So the half of the OST. :D
The list is not ordered by preference.

My favorites are the ones that are broken into parts. You know, when you have to put the Melolune on the pedestals to complete the songs? I thoroughly enjoyed experimenting to hear each part separately, and I can only help that areas later in the game require more than just 3 pieces of Melolune =]

I was listening to The Binding of Isaac OST from Danny Baranowsky and the tune at 0:50 in Tomes (http://dbsoundworks.bandcamp.com/track/tomes) reminds me of The Great World (http://laurashigihara.bandcamp.com/track/the-great-world) at 0:30. Maybe it's just me, though. Anyone else who hears the similarity? Just curious. :)
