Contests and Events / Re: Leeble Game Jam 5: THE GAMES!
« on: March 19, 2020, 05:48:17 PM »
I really enjoyed playing everyone's games, you all did an excellent job!
Thanks again for hosting the game jam!

Average Potato: "Nessa Milkshake Madness"
Spoiler for Hiden:
Nice! Once again I am amazed at how you manage to make all those sprites on top of making a rather big game.  It was fun serving milkshakes, and I always felt a child-like glee whenever someone ordered the legendary Number 11.  I also loved all the milkshake themed enemies and seeing characters from your previous games.
Thanks for all the free potions by the way!  Now to find that passcode. (While appreciating the excellent tree arrangement.)

th3mi5t: "Tomodachi"
Spoiler for Hiden:
th3mi5t: "Tomodachi"
This was neat!  Got all four endings (and a second variation of Together), I really like how the Boss difficulty really scales with more friends. The custom enemies were neat too! (Haha, I also liked all the Saitou references and item flavor text.)

Akira: "The Quest"
Spoiler for Hiden:
I really enjoyed it! The music and singing is fantastic! (I still have the Penny Ham song stuck inside my head.)
I like the story thus far and I loved the cutscenes and all the little interactions! (Wait, ACKSHUALLY I have to also mention that the arcade games are great and hilarious.)
I'll definitely look forward playing more if you continue making it.
(On a side note, I have now finally realized the significance of Blockchain.)

LunarPenguin: "Robots Along the Way"
Spoiler for Hiden:
Oooh neat! I really like the aesthetic, and had fun reading all the text. (Talking with a random encounter was my favorite.)

kreyg: "The Friendzone"
Spoiler for Hiden:
Oooh! I had fun navigating the fog and finding help to pin down the location of the jump point.
(My best record thus far is 10 turns.)

Spoiler for Hiden:
Wow the presentation! I like how everything looks! I also really enjoyed the card game, in fact I been replaying the game quite a bit.
I look forward to playing the next update you have in mind.
(Also really liked the flavor text.)

btballenger: "The Chachia"
Spoiler for Hiden:
Ooooh that's a neat aesthetic!
I like what you got so far, and think your plan for it has a lot of potential; I look forward to seeing more!
(Haha, I also liked the beanstalk easter egg.)

Shine: "Behind the Words"
Spoiler for Hiden:
This is great! I liked the message, and loved how well the game mechanics compliment it!
I like the clarity system, how other's emotions can rub off on you and how you restore clarity.

OveAhlman: "What if the friends we made..."
Spoiler for Hiden:
Oooh! I really like the puzzles, they felt really well made.
Also that intriguing tone change really got me quite invested.

Also thank you for the comments on my and my brother's game!
This post is already quite big, so I put my replies in this spoiler:
Spoiler for Hiden:
Akira: I am glad you liked it!
My brother and I would definitely like to work on some updates in the future.  We had a lot planned for the game... too much for a game jam. XD
Though I definitely want to make the reflective water even fancier~ like with a ripple effect when you walk on the puddles. (I love making little details!)
(And properly implement the item crafting and resource collecting, haha.)

Custerdoge: Thanks!
My brother came up with the concept of Guy, we had quite a few more cutscenes planned with him, but then time happened haha.  Little details like the reflection effects are my favorite to make.  Oh yes, I had fun making the little frogger style minigame.  (Haha, maybe in a update I'll add jumping animations.)

btballenger: Thank you!
Haha ah yes, unfortunately despite spending so much time on the crafting system I ran out of time to implement anything useful to craft... (whoops...) Thanks for trying all the combinations though!

Haha, I definitely ran into the water a few times as well.
Good catch with the bug, the automatic character movement is definitely a bit wonky at the moment.

My brother made all the lovely detailed pixel art such as the characters, trees, items, plane, etc. I had a lot of fun making the reflections.
A part of me regretted spending time on the main menu, but it's wonderful to know that it was used!
(Speaking of; For the menu I had help with a tutorial series by a Youtuber named FriendlyCosmonaut,
I had to make a few changes to make it work with my other systems, but I definitely recommend checking it out if you need to make a menu like it.)

Oh my, I completely forgot to post what I thought about the games.

-Average Potato: "Monica & Ham's Adventure"-
This was very charming! I like how you drew all the graphics too.

-AlbinoGrimby: "The Ferry Girl"-
Very intriguing! I also really liked your blog post on how you bypassed the drag-and-drop aspect of RPG Maker with Ruby.

-Akira: "Rex makes a wish"-
The music is fantastic, I am actually listening to it again right now as I write this post.
Also your friend's game engine is really impressive!

-Kamipixel: "Death Wish"-
Haha nicely done, nicely done.  (Awaits for the genie to return.)

-EN.I: "Bufkus in a can"-
This is really neat! Seeing creations that work on old systems always fascinate me.

-supershigi: Break the Ice at Moon Sun Rainbow Land-
Very interesting! I am not sure if this has happened yet, but I am quite curious to hear how it goes.

-P.Yoshi: Junko (complete version)-
Wow, I can really see all the work you put into it this past year.
I haven't finished it yet, but I would definitely like to see if I can 100% it.

Oh yeah, while I am at it. (Should have also posted this a month ago...)
It was discovered that my game Wish Granters won't open the path to the ending if you grant Bufkus' wish last. (aka, if it's the 4th wish you grant.)
(Thanks for letting me know about it Akira!)

That's neat! Once this jam is over I should definitely check out all the entrees from the previous years.  :)

I mainly learned JavaScript, but have been branching out to similar languages such as C++ and Java; also while quite different, I learned HTML5 & CSS as well.
Admittedly I am rather out of practice with all of those since I shifted my focus to learning composing and drawing, but this game jam should help with getting back into it.  :)

Thank you for the warm welcome, I'll definitely check out the discord server.

I definitely want to try to participate in the game jam.

As for a theme idea... oh!
Theme: Wind

Hello, I am Leaftune44.
I saw the tweet on twitter about the game jam, I am not a 100% sure if I would be able to complete something next month, but... I'll never know unless I try.  :umbrella:

As for a little bit about me;
I have several hobbies, such as composing, programming, drawing, and writing; Oh, and of course I also enjoy reading and playing video games.  :)

Some of my favorite games are the Legend of Zelda series (especially Wind Waker), the Professor Layton series (especially Diabolical Box, Unwound Future, and Last Specter), Chrono Trigger, Kirby's Adventure, Harvest Moon, Animal Crossing (Super looking forward to the upcoming game), and too many more to mention in one post. XD

On a side note, I really enjoyed Rakuen, so seeing Leebles everywhere here is absolutely wonderful.  :)
