Round 2: Let's Make Games~!!

As many of you know, we held a Game Jam last year at the forums. A bunch of folks made games and I have to say, it was a lot of fun following along with their progress, chatting about development topics, and playing their games afterwards. I figure, it's been long enough since our last jam, and since enough people seemed interested... we're gonna do another one next month! The premise is simple: You'll have a month to create a tiny game based around a theme; you can use any engine you want, and if you're using rpg maker you may use the RTP or other community resources that you are legally allowed to use.

Nominate a theme for the jam!

Please feel free to use this thread to let us know if you're interested in participating, and to toss out theme ideas (even if you aren't going to be submitting a game). Later on, the official theme will be chosen from these nominations and you'll have a month to create a game! The event officially starts January 1st, 2017!
  • You have until Thursday December 22nd, 2016 (11:59pm PST) to nominate a theme.
  • You have until Thursday December 29th, 2016 (11:59pm PST) to vote for a theme.

To get the ball rolling, I'm going to suggest something very simple just like last year: "Winter"

These folks be jammin
(let me know if you want to be included on this list!)

Helpful Stuff:
Good advice about jamming from Alice

Leeble Academy - A place to ask questions, post information, and learn about all things related to game development!

IRC Chat - Throughout the jam, please feel free to use our IRC channel to chat! Ask questions, vent about a bug that's driving you nuts, share how excited you are that you got the menu working, or just support one another!

Dev Logs - Each person participating in the jam will be allowed to create their own dev log for their game. You can use this as your personal space to brainstorm, share what you're working on (screenshots, general ideas, code, etc.), and give us updates on how it's going! But remember... as I mentioned in this thread: ***the game itself should be your central focus! I've seen far too many examples on rpg maker forums where people spend exorbitant amounts of time making their thread look flashy and pretty, and they never finish anything. The thread is to help propel the game, not the other way around ^_^

Sweet!

Since January is normally the beginning of the year, I was thinking of suggesting "new beginnings", but I also like the possibilities of "change" and "time" as themes.

But that's just my brain.

Can't wait to start on this.  :D
My daily post count just went up!!

I've been thinking about possible themes, and I think "Flight" would be an interesting theme.

I like everyone's suggestions!  I thought I'd throw "movement" out there.

Great suggestions so far you guys!

@Strawfairy: You can definitely join! I've updated the original post to include you :)

@Crimmy: Are you going to be jamming with us this year as well? (of course it's totally cool if you just wanted to suggest a theme, I just wanted to make sure I didn't forget to add you to the list if you wanted to participate^^)

Hmm I tried for a while to come up with a theme suggestion... I was thinking how each year the tools used in game jams and the hardware the games can be played on are constantly changing and improving, I'm going to nominate the theme:

Progression.

I hate to double-dip, but I thought of another theme that (at least in a way) incorporates a lot of the other theme ideas:

Travel.

Thanks for reminding me Lysaea, but I'm also gonna throw in 'clothing' as a theme.
