I don't think I've posted this talk by Daniel Kahneman here before, but it's one of the most insightful things I've seen, which I still come back to every few months just to keep it in mind :)

Daniel Kahneman: The riddle of experience vs. memory

It has a ton of vital info that's not just far out theories, but relevant ways we work in day-to-day life. From a fascinating study of colonoscopy () about the effect of endings to the separation of the two selves that we process things with, it's eye-opening and something absolutely fascinating to think about.

Quote
We don't choose between experiences; we choose between memories of experiences. And even when we think about the future, we don't think of our future normally as experiences; we think of our future as anticipated memories.

Even though this is just cementing something that many know in one way or another already, some of the concepts in this about the way our noggins work can be extremely important. For those who haven't seen this, it starts a tad slow for a couple of minutes, but afterwards pretty much every minute is vital:

The Surprising Science of Happiness - Dan Gilbert

For the longest time, I didn't really like posting this particular talk around, since it seems to be often misinterpreted and can lead to a dangerous way of thinking. But I think with the context of Kahneman's talk at the top of this thread page, it's a lot more beneficial than not to be aware of.

(Although, there's an error in the stats he recited there from one of the studies: the data on the newly paraplegic and lottery winners were not actually exactly matching, but with the lottery winners still somewhat happier -- none the less, the difference was still far less than what one'd intuitively expect. Anyway, the overall phenomenon's still empirically valid, of course.)

I hope I'm not the only Friends fan here, but I saw this again today and started laughing my butt off (even though it hurts my throat cause i'm sick)

The context is that Monica was dating someone she didn't know was dating a high schooler and she finds out and doesn't want to see him anymore. The following is what ensues:
Friends-"It's morphing time!" Ross,Chand,Joe-Power Rangers!

Wow, that is a really awesome music video. I like the lyrics that go along with it, because I feel like it connects so well with what anyone has gone through. Thanks for sharing!

Wow, that was fulla feels, Shigs.

Well, I've been listening to music nonstop for the duration of my studying sessions, and so I came to hear (and watch) this video from my favorite all-girl band, Katzenjammer.

It is also full of feels, and I feel fuzzy inside every time I watch it because, well... see for yourself.

Since you brought up Friends Poku, this one by far is too funny.

Hey y'all! I was just watching Nicktendowii's newest "Retro Game A Week" video. If you haven't seen his videos, they are a great way to relive some of those nostalgic moments with old video games or a chance to be informed about obscure ones that you may not have heard about. His latest video was on Mega Man 2 for the game boy. If you haven't checked it out, you can do so at his thread in the link below.

http://www.supershigi.com/forums/index.php?topic=1155.msg28583#new

So following my train of thought from before...I was thinking to myself, the early Mega Man games are extremely brutal. The first Mega Man is ESPECIALLY brutal because you had to get a certain amount of points on the level in addition to not dying. I know i'm not the only one who writhed with frustration at the hands of the Blue Bomber, but I stumbled across this video of teenagers who've never played Mega Man before and play it for the first time. They quickly realize that NES gaming was like the pinnacle of gaming difficulty; at least, it was normal for NES games to be excrutiatingly tough to beat.
